Every year thousands of horses are abused, neglected, and sent to slaughter. It is really important for the public to be aware of the abuse that horses go through and stand up to help out. Horse have been a humans ally for generations, and it is unfair that we are now making them suffer because we think we don't need them anymore. Individuals should start following the example that the organizations below have set. If every person helped, even just a little, the suffereing of horses would slow or even stop.

United States Equine Rescue League, Inc: The United States Equine Rescue League (USERL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the compassionate care of equines. Their mission is to save, protect, and rehabilitate equines in need. They rescues horses that have been neglected, abandoned and even abused.

Saving Horses Inc: Saving Horses, Inc., is a non-profit organization that actively rescues horses from slaughter, abuse, neglect and abandonment. SHI has rescued horses off slaughter bound feedlots, at auction, and from neglectful or other life threatening situations.

Safe Haven Horse Rescue: Safe Haven Horse Rescue is a non-profit, no kill, and volunteer organization. They offer the horses a life where there is trust and hope. They teach others how a horse should be treated as well as teach the horse to trust again.

Horses' Haven: Horses' Haven is a non-profit rescue based in Howell, Michigan. It is a sanctuary that takes in large animals by donation or rescue ones that their owners can no longer care for, that are losing their homes that need medical assistance, that will never have a home of their own or that have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own.
